Paris 2024: Dame Lisa on track for more medals, speed climber Julian David beats former world champion

Kiwi kayak queen Dame Lisa Carrington will make her highly anticipated debut appearance at Paris 2024 on Tuesday night (NZT).
Dame Lisa begins her campaign in the K4 women’s 500m heat at Vaires sur Marne Nautical Stadium, alongside Olivia Brett, Alicia Hoskin, and Tara Vaughan, where she’ll try to add a sixth Olympics gold medal to her bulging trophy cabinet.
Carrington and Hoskin will also join forces for the women’s K2 500m heat later in the evening.
Over at the velodrome, the Kiwi men’s and women’s foursomes take to the track for the opening round of their respective team pursuits.
Kitesurfers Justina Kitchen and Lukas Walton-Keim return to the water, as do Nacra sailors Micah Wilkinson and Erica Dawson.

RESULTS
Canoe/Kayak – SprintLisa Carrington, Tara Vaughan, Olivia Brett & Alicia Hoskin won their women's K-4 500m heat to advance straight to the final, and in the men's event, Kurtis Imrie, Max Brown, Hamish Legarth & Grant Clancy placed 4th in their heat before finishing second in their quarter-final to reach the semi-finals.
Carrington kept her winning ways going alongside Hoskin in their women's K-2 500m heat to qualify for the semi-finals. However, Aimee Fisher & Lucy Matahaere were 4th in their heat and placed 5th in the quarter-final, ending their campaign in the same event.
Imrie & Legarth were 5th in their heat of the men's K-2 500m sprint and have snuck into the semi-finals after finishing 4th in the quarter-finals.
While it was a largely positive day on the water for New Zealand, the lowlight of Day 11 was the men's C-2 500m heats where Brown & Clancy placed last in both their heat and quarter-final to end their run in the event. In the quarter-final, the duo fell 35 seconds behind the 4th-placed Angola.

AthleticsIn her heat of the women's 1500m, Olympic debutant Maia Ramsden finished 6th to reach the semi-finals.

SailingIn the mixed multihull class, Micah Wilkinson & Erica Dawson placed 17th in race 10, 3rd in race 11, and 7th in race 12 to be 4th overall, they will race for a medal next. The Italian crew of Ruggero Tita & Caterina Banti are favoured for the gold in that event.
Thomas Saunders's medal race in the men's dinghy class, where his best possible finish could win a bronze, was postponed due to a lack of wind.
In the men's kitesurfing, Lukas Wlaton-Keim placed 9th in race 6 and 18th in race 7, while Justina Kitchen did not start in the only women's kitesurfing race to take place on Day 11.
Sport Climbing – SpeedRecording a new personal best of 5.24 in the heats, Julian David then beat that time to regiester 5.20 in his elimination against former world champion Reza Alipour of Iran. David's incredible efforts see him advance through to Thursday night's (NZT) quarter-finals.

Cycling – TrackThe women’s pursuit team of Nicole Shields, Emily Shearman & Ally Wollaston were the fastest in the qualifiers with a time of 4:04.679 - setting them up for a first round matchup against Italy Wednesday night (NZT). The winner will qualify directly to the gold medal race.
In the men's 400m pursuit, the team of Aaron Gate, Keegan Hornblow, Tom Sexton & Campbell Stewart failed to qualify for the bronze medal race.
