Broncos claim NRLW throne against undefeated Roosters

Brisbane has dethroned the Sydney Roosters to claim the 2025 NRLW Premiership.
The Broncos managed to defeat the Tricolours in an enthralling 22-18 encounter at Accor Stadium, which sees them break Sydney’s 18-game unbeaten streak.
Both sides would certainly take their time to get on the scoreboard, despite both teams having averaged over 30 points, with the first score coming from the reigning Dally M Medallist, Tamika Upton, in the 18th minute.
Brisbane proceeded to double their lead just another ten minutes with Jada Ferguson getting over the line to lead by 12 points at halftime.
But the Roosters would work their way back into the game with eight minutes of brilliance, seeing them score three tries to be in front.
However, the Broncos would find their form towards the back end of the game with Mele Hufanga capping off her brilliant performance alongside Julia Robinson in the centres to help the side get into attacking opportunities.
Hufanga would be named as the Karyn Murphy Medallist with the centre leading the game for run meters with 210 metres alongside two line breaks and a try.
In the post-game celebrations, Broncos prop Chelsea Lendaruzzi would join the SEN League team, saying that this win had been something they had been building up to for quite a while.
"It's really, really cool," she told SEN League.
"We've been building for this for a few years, so to get it done in the most stressful way, but we did it.”
When reflecting on the team’s thoughts were when the Bronx was down by two points with five minutes left to go, Lenarduzzi admitted that her side never gave up believing that their best would be good enough to beat any side.
"It's the same every game," she added.
"We know that we can win at any point; if we play our best footy, we can beat any team.
"But credit to the Chooks, they are a really good team and they are very tough and that was probably one of the best NRLW games you'll ever see."
This is now the 4th NRLW Premiership that the Broncos have claimed in their history, which reconfirms their status as being the best side throughout the first eight seasons of NRLW.
