Why the Broncos need to 'nullify' Grant

Andrew McCullough has spoken on the need for the Broncos to stop Harry Grant’s influence during Sunday’s grand final.
The Storm captain has had a strong back end of the year in the No. 9 jersey, which has seen Melbourne progress to their sixth grand final in the space of 10 seasons.
And his importance to the side was highlighted even further when Grant picked up a two-game suspension in the back end of the season, which coincided with losses to Sydney and Brisbane to close out the home and away season.
With his return to the side at the start of the finals, the Storm have looked significantly better in attack, which makes McCullough thinks that there will be a completely different side to what the Broncos faced in Round 27.
“They missed him last time Brisbane played, so they’ll throw that out the window,” McCullough said on SENQ Breakfast.
“Because the difference between him being there and him not being there is quite a big difference, because he is such a class player.
“He is touching the ball first; the ball goes where he wants it, there’s no one else’s decision but his own.
“And he’s the captain, the Australian hooker, the Queensland (hooker), the lot.
“He hasn’t been there before and done it yet, so no doubt it will be a challenge for him, which will be exciting.
“But they need to nullify him first and then the rest of the team after that.”
The 2025 NRL Grand Final gets underway at 7:30pm AEDT on October 5 from Accor Stadium.
SEN will have three live calls of the match, with fans having the option to either listen to a Storm or Broncos-themed commentary alongside a neutral option, which can be found on the SEN app and through its radio network.
