Should Galvin move away from the No. 7 jersey?

Should Galvin move away from the No. 7 jersey?
Matty Johns believes that at this stage of Lachlan Galvin’s career would be better suited playing as either a five-eighth or as a lock.
Within the early part of his Wests Tigers’ career, Galvin mainly featured in the No. 6 jersey.
Since joining the Bulldogs midway through the season, he has managed to replace Toby Sexton in the starting No.7 jersey.
But it hasn’t all been plain sailing for the 20-year-old with the Dogs having slipped from top spot to third.
Speaking on SEN’s Morning Glory with Matty Johns, Andrew Webster thinks the pressure under Galvin will continue to mount until he helps the Bulldogs break their 21-year premiership drought, which he feels is unfair.
“Until Canterbury win the comp with Lachlan Galvin as halfback, people are going to ask whether they have done the right thing,” Webster said.
“He’s not terrible, but he’s not great. He just looks like a young halfback trying to fit in the team.
“I reckon it’s really unfair the way he is getting bashed up, to be honest. Like, he is a 20-year-old halfback, to say whether he is going to make it or not, depending on how he plays in games like this, is rubbish.”
For Johns, his opinion is that Galvin should continue his development from another position that doesn’t have the same pressure as the halfback while he is still learning the ropes of the NRL.
“In my opinion, at this point of his career, he is a six or a 13,” he explained.
“To be given the (No.) 7 jersey is very different. It brings a lot of pressure. You’re lugged with the job of pushing the team around the park.
Now that is very, very difficult when you are trying to learn the system yourself.”
With Thursday’s win against Penrith, the Bulldogs have all but secured a top-four finish with one more game left to go in their season.
They will finish their season against Cronulla next Saturday at Accor Stadium before a likely clash against the Melbourne Storm at AAMI Park for the first week of finals.
