Parker: Broncos star should talk to rivals after Pezet signing.
Rival clubs should enquire about the availability of Brisbane Broncos youngster Coby Black, according to Corey Parker.
Black was the heir apparent for the Broncos after Adam Reynolds’ impending departure but following the announcement of Jonah Pezet’s arrival in 2027, it is clear that Black has gone down the pecking order at Red Hill.
At just 19 years of age, Black is already considered one of the best prospects in the competition and enhanced his reputation with match winning performances in the Under 19 State of Origin series for Queensland.
Parker is adamant that the Broncos would be open to any offers from clubs for the young halfback.
“You’ve just got to assume that the fact the Broncos have signed Tom Duffy and now Jonah Pezet for 2027, maybe they don’t see Coby Black as the long term future,” Parker said on SENQ Breakfast.
“They might need Black for depth but I’m not sure where he could end up.
“If someone came knocking for Coby Black, I don’t think the Broncos would stand in his way.
“The Melbourne Storm could absolutely have a crack at recruiting him.”
Black is entering the final year of his contract with the Broncos in 2026 and can negotiate with other clubs from November 1.
Pezet’s move to the Parramatta Eels in 2026 and Broncos in 2027 came as a shock to the competition and also Pezet’s management.

Pezet’s manager, Braith Anasta, revealed on his podcast BTFU Sport that the Storm informed him that Jahrome Hughes was headed back to Queensland.
Hughes re-signed until 2030 on July 29 which sparked Pezet and his management to activate the clause in his contract to explore his options.
“We got told a year ago when we signed Jonah to an extension with Melbourne that Jahrome was most likely not going to be there at the end of his deal,” Anasta said.
“He was looking to move back to Queensland. They were going to go with Jonah and Cameron (Munster) in the halves.
“We got blind-sided by the signing of Hughes just because we didn’t expect it.
“As the 2025 season went on, Jonah didn’t really get the opportunity we expected him to get.
“He’s so ready now and you can’t hold him back.”
