Nottingham Forest have added another Kiwi footballer into the mix with the signing of centre-back Tyler Bindon from Reading.
The son of former Football Ferns goalkeeper Jenny, and former NZ volleyball captain Grant, Tyler will remain on loan to Reading for the remainder of the 2024/25 League One season.
Hailing from Auckland's East Coast Bays football club, Bindon came through the Los Angeles FC academy and is now considered to be one of the top young talents currently playing in the English Football League (EFL).
Starting in all of Reading's 28 league fixtures so far this season, Bindon's now-loan club currently hold a win-loss-draw record of 13-10-5 to be seventh on the League One table with 44 points, 11 behind third-placed Wrexham AFC.
Bindon has also made one EFL Cup appearance for the Royals this season, plus two FA Cup appearances for the Royals this season, with a goal scored in their 2-0 first round defeat of Fleetwood.
The 13-cap All White's new deal sees him commit to Forest through to 2028, where he will join fellow Kiwis Chris Wood and Marko Stamenic, who is currently on loan to Olympiacos FC in the Greek Super League.
The move marks Nottingham's first signing of the transfer window after an earlier £22 million (NZ$48.7m) bid to secure Brentford striker Yoana Wissa fell through.
