"Another level": Brown confident in horse at odds for Northerly

Ethan Brown is looking to go back-to-back in the Group 1 Northerly Stakes (1800m), after winning the $1.5 million race in 2024 with the Ciaron Maher-trained Light Infantry Man.
The jockey is partnering up with Maher again this year and will be riding the five-year-old Vivy Air.
Brown recently won on the mare over 1600m at Randwick on October 18 in the Big Dance Wildcard. She then ran second in the $3 million Big Dance before winning the $2 million Five Diamonds at Rosehill last time out.
This impressive Sydney form has Brown confident that he can go back-to-back in the Perth Group 1.
“Since I won on her in Sydney, she’s gone to another level from the looks of it,” Brown told SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up.
“She brings a different form – that Sydney form line is obviously always strong.
“I can’t see why (she can’t win). If she draws a (good) gate, she’s proven at 1800m.
“When I got offered her, I didn’t think twice. I was happy to take the ride and give up a few at Ballarat Cup Day for her.”
Vivy Air is currently $10 to win the Northerly with Sportsbet, while Perth local King Of Light is the favourite at $2.60.
