Mitch Ebeyer's Thursday Focus and best bets at Albion Park (13/03)
After some wild and worrying weather in Queensland of late, numerous meetings cancelled due to animal and human safety WE RETURN! It’s fantastic to be back watching the dogs we love and the industry we enjoy to be apart of up and running again. We return with Albion Park, our usual Thursday night venue and a track many people love.
Tonight’s card is 12 races long, starts at 7:25pm and ends a few minutes after the scheduled last race of 11:05pm. Racing over the three distances we are accustomed to, 520, 600 & 710 metres. No feature events on to note, but class animals and winners to be found.
BEST BETS
R1 N3 ZIPPING GATSBY
Huge last week off a wide draw and maps absolutely perfect tonight. Weak race and looks a class above but just relies on a bit of luck early. Improving each week and boasts a slick 30.44 Ipswich which no other dog in this race can run. Slow beginners inside and should settle forward. Expect to be backed very hard!
R9 N1 GARRISON
As fast a dog as you’ll see when out in front on the arm and has the potential to lead this race tonight. Massive win three starts back when beating Back Creek Benny and the rise in trip is ideal. Box record good and has a wide runner with early speed drawn in two. Main danger the 5 who has plenty of ability when gets it right. Best bet of the night Garrison and love the price!
VALUE BETS
R4 N7 JOURNEY
Weak race in terms of dogs with good records at the track and is drawn well to feature on the podium. Last run was massive when running in the back of a dog on the first turn. Went 30.47 last start even with interference so expect to improve second look. Previous form from NSW was strong and has a great draw based off map and statistics. Wide box form good and vacant draw inside helps massively. Expect a bold showing.
R6 N1 SHAZAM
One of my favourites and has drawn beautifully. A dog that relies on luck and isn’t the slowest and not the fastest at box rise. Strikes at 50% off the red and slow beginners drawn on the immediate outside helps for room and time to hit top gear. Each way play of the night and could see a drift in the market. If he’s to win one anytime soon this is the race!
