SEN Breakfast’s Kane Cornes and Sam Edmund have discussed at length the Tony Jones v Novak Djokovic situation.
The 10-time Australian Open champion is refusing to conduct interviews with Channel 9 after newsman Tony Jones made "insulting and offensive comments" towards him.
“It’s become, really, an international incident at the Australian Open,” Edmund said.
“We can describe it as such because one of the greatest players in the history of the sport is refusing to do on-court interviews until he’s issued an apology by the host broadcaster (Channel 9), and or one of their main men in Tony Jones.
“It’s escalated at a rapid rate.”

Cornes added: “There’s a serious side to it in terms of what happens now and how Channel 9 plays this.
“They’ve paid $425 million over five years for the rights to the Australian Open and a lot of that is the flow-on effect to be able to promo your other shows. The value is added by the athletes and the personalities.
“He (Djokovic) is demanding an apology. I would be expecting that 9 do bow to Novak’s demands and TJ and Channel 9 will issue an authentic apology today.”
