The mysterious new rugby venture R360 is making waves before a ball has even been kicked. Promising to revolutionise the sport, it's also raising alarm bells across the rugby world.
Rob Nichol, Chief Executive of the New Zealand Rugby Players’ Association, joined Sport Nation’s Riccardo Ball and Alex Chapman to unpack the uncertainty surrounding the proposed competition - and whether it will even get off the ground.
“Their initial pitch to us was that they were going to get the top 250 players in the world… and they’re definitely not in that space.”
Nichol warns that while the financial offers are eye-watering, the risks are just as large.
“You’d be signing up to something you’re not quite sure what you’re signing up to.”
So what is R360? A cash-fuelled shake-up or a cautionary tale in the making?
