Fogarty to sign 'deal of a lifetime' with Manly

Jamal Fogarty is reportedly set to sign with the Manly Sea Eagles worth $700,000 a season over three years.
Fogarty has been in the middle of a bidding war between the Sea Eagles and his current club, the Canberra Raiders, as both hoped to keep the veteran playmaker.
The Raiders opted not to take up an option in Fogarty's contract for 2026, however, did offer the halfback a revised two-year offer in the hopes he would turn down Manly's larger offer and stay in the Nation's capital.
Pete Badel has reported this saw Manly increase their initial two-year, $1.2 million offer to the three-year, $2.1 million offer Fogarty is expected to accept.
Fogarty is viewed as a bridge between outgoing captain Daly Cherry-Evans and the highly touted, 18-year-old, Joey Walsh.
Speaking on SEN's The Captain's Run, Denan Kemp said no one could blame Fogarty for taking up the greater offer.
"I feel sorry for Raiders' fans because he's gone down there and built something really nice, but I am stoked for Fogarty," Kemp said.
"He didn't debut in first grade until... late in his career... now he's got a three-year deal, $700k per year! Mate's that a great story!
"I think that he'll suit the Manly Sea Eagles, I think he's got a really good kicking game.
"I think it's one of those situations where you look at it and go, look, this guy is never going to get offered a big contract like this again, he's worked his absolute backside off to even get in the NRL, and he gets this deal of a lifetime.
"How can you expect a man that's 30 years old, he's got a family, he's got a wife, to say no to an extra $700,000."
Kemp, however, did question why the Sea Eagles didn't offer a similar contract to Cherry-Evans.
Fogarty will be 35 when his Manly contract expires; a year younger than Cherry-Evans currently is.
"I tell you what's weird, you don't offer (Cherry-Evans), but then you offer (Fogarty) three years? I'd argue DCE has been more durable than Fogarty in recent years," Kemp said.
"Surely you offer DCE one year?"
