"It makes more sense": Rabbitohs push NSW Government to relocate from Homebush to Moore Park
The South Sydney Rabbitohs will push to move their home games to Allianz Stadium in Moore Park following another breakdown in negotiations for an upgrade to Accor Stadium in Homebush.
The Bunnies and their CEO Blake Solly have been vocal about their desire to move venues due to the lack of progress on the planned upgrade of Accor Stadium from the NSW State Government.
Veteran sports reporter Andrew Webster took to social media on Wednesday to confirm that the current NSW Government would not allocated any funds towards Accor Stadium in their current term or in their next term if elected.
The Rabbitohs are locked in to an agreement to play their home fixtures at Homebush until 2030 but was signed under the condition that Accor Stadium be renovated.
“South Sydney have made it pretty clear that they want to move away from Sydney Olympic Park,” The Daily Telegraph’s Michael Carayannis told SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“Solly and Chairman Nick Pappas met with NSW Premier Chris Minns (on Wednesday) and attempted to fast track (Accor’s upgrade) because they have a long-term contract with the venue.
“They want to move back to what is South Sydney’s heartland towards the city.
“The Bulldogs have also campaigned to get that stadium redeveloped.
“That’s why Souths are trying to get out of the deal. There has been no upgrade to the stadium when they thought there would be.
“I think it makes more sense for South Sydney to be at Allianz. They had such a big history at the SCG and the old Sydney Football Stadium.
“They’ve been there a long time and it just doesn’t feel like home for them.”
South Sydney host the Sydney Roosters in Round 5 at Accor Stadium on Friday night.
