Is Melbourne United hesitant on keeping Matthew Dellavedova?

Matthew Dellavedova is set to be one of the hottest free agents on the market this offseason and ESPN’s Olgun Uluc has reported Melbourne United is “a tiny bit hesitant” to meet the asking price set by the 2016 NBA champion.
Speaking on NBL Media’s The Marketplace, Uluc explained Dellavedova is hoping for a contract that will help him get to the 2028 Olympics. While United has some work to do on the negotiating table, Uluc’s belief is a deal will still be struck between the two parties.
However, if they don’t, there will be interest from across the league in Dellavedova's services.
“He is seeking a multi-year deal on a considerable amount of money. I think United is a tiny bit hesitant to lock in Delly on such a long-term deal on the amount of money I'm told he is asking for,” Uluc said.
“He wants this deal through to the LA Olympics. If Melbourne United isn’t willing to come to the table, then other teams from around the league, from what I understand, they’ve already signalled if they’re hesitant, we might swoop in. Other teams are watching this situation very closely.
“I think United will come to the table. I think they will end up getting something done. If there’s one team that I think it’s tough to see guys leaving, it’s Melbourne United because of their infrastructure, their culture, if you’ve been part of that ecosystem, it’s very tough to leave it.”
The 34-year-old Dellavedova is averaging 10.8 points and 7.1 assists per game this season.
