Former All White Ivan Vicelich has praised the growing talent available to All Whites selectors for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
“The quality of players around the world now from New Zealand is a lot more than it was in the past,” he told Sport Nation’s Studs Up! Podcast following the naming of the squad on Thursday.
“We had top players in the past but now having a huge pool to be able to select from is really great for New Zealand.
“A lot of professional players everywhere.”
Vicelich who was in the 2010 World Cup team said the squad announced today also reflects great experience and includes players who know how to perform at a high level.
“They haven't got the big names like Brazil or something, but they are quality opposition, so the players will go into the game 100% thinking that they're going to be able to get a result."
He noted that it’s great for New Zealand to be back at the World Cup and offers an opportunity to further grow the game and inspire future generations.
“It's a huge moment to be on the world stage, representing your country for any player is a dream come true.”
He also acknowledged the players who missed out on selection, saying it doesn’t dignify their careers.
