Mitch Lewis’ best bets for Saturday's racing (30/08)
Form analyst Mitch Lewis has your Saturday punting sorted.
Lewis has taken a close look at Morphettville and Caulfield, and is confident he has found some winners.
See Mitch Lewis’ best bets for Saturday below:
Morphettville
Race 5 | 1. Darknconfidential (Each-way)
“Third-up now, he’s a winner third-up previously,” Lewis told SENTrack's Giddy Up.
“Blinkers are going on, but he’s just got some good form references around horses like Hot Strut and Richie D’Amour.
“There’s a short priced favourite in the race but Darknconfidential’s gonna race up there on speed, be in a prominent position, so I just think with a little bit of extra race fitness he’s got now, I’d certainly give him a good chance.
“We’re gonna back him each-way as this track is leaning to getting to that soft 7 to heavy 8 range, and I’m not sure how much he loves it, so he needs the track to suit.”
Race 6 | 7. Cicala
“This horse was fifth last-start in the Group 3 Behemoth Stakes, won the Lightning Stakes previous to that beating Fieldelo,” Lewis revealed.
“So, she’s going along really good, drops back to a benchmark 82.
“The only little query might be that she’s getting a little deep into her first prep.
“She’s the main play but just to cover the stake, I recommend a little play on Karavas, we’ve seen this horse over in Victoria… She’s a handy type and she resumes as her career peaks.
“So, just in case Cicala’s had enough I think Karavas is the one you can chip out on.”
Race 8 | 4. Cash
“He was a handy winner there on debut at Moonee Valley, had a spell, he resumed recently at Murray Bridge,” said Lewis.
“He sort of found his way to the front, wobbled around a little bit, got caught on the line. I just wonder if fitness told first-up over the 1200m.
“I think he maps to be in a prominent position again here on a track that’ll be a little bit better for that.
“I think fitter now, he should prove harder to catch.”

Caulfield
Race 8 | 2. Magic Time
“She just has that little bit of extra class, so I’m leaning to her as the best,” exclaimed Lewis.
“But I’m playing Caulfield mostly late when I’m confirmed with some of the track conditions.”
