Emerging star Treasurethe Moment finished third in her Grand Final race on Saturday, placing in the Group 1 Cox Plate.
The four-year-old mare who is owned by Yulong Investments won 10 of her first 12 career starts, including a terrific first-up win this spring in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes.
However, after that Group 1 the Matt Laurie trained brown suffered a mild case of colic, and she hasnât won in her last three starts since.
Yulong Investments COO Sam Fairgay has revealed that Treasurethe Moment will most likely be sent to the paddock, ending her spring carnival.
âWeâll see how she pulls up but the likelihood is sheâll have a break,â Fairgray told RSNâs Correct Weight.
âThis was the Grand Final target (Cox Plate); sheâs got a lot more racing in her.
âShe can have a spell and get some of the nice spring grass and some nice weather â get her set up for the Autumn.â
When reflecting on the potential superstarâs preparation, Fairgray was very pleased with how she performed.
âShe had that great run first-up in the Memsie, then had that colic hiccup,â he said.
âMatt (Laurie) all the way through said sheâs going well, and sheâs come out of it fine.
âAlthough people may have thought she ran below her best in those couple of runs (in the Feehan and Might And Power), they were different tactical races, and they probably didnât suit her.
âWhereas yesterday she ran fantastic â back into a race where thereâs a bit of speed and she could get back to her usual style of racing.â
If the Cox Plate is Treasurethe Momentâs final run of the spring, then she ends her preparation with one Group 1 victory, two secondâs and a place in the Cox Plate.
