"Horse to beat": Is Tempted the best three-year-old?

The 2025 edition of the Run to the Rose was nothing short of exceptional and Godolphin’s Tempted came out on top.
At the 100m the first-up Tempted flew past the rest of her three-year-old competition to take out the Group 2 race.
Mick Gannon had nothing but praise for the Ciaron Maher trained filly, convinced that she is heading to the $20 million Everest.
“She’s absolutely toyed with them there, she’s beaten the best of the best there,” Gannon said.
“Surely, she heads to an Everest off the back of that.”
Miles Pfitzner was also astounded by the performance and believes the horse will start as a favourite wherever she goes next.
“Wow, that’s an impressive win as you’ll ever see – quality field and a quality training performance,” Pfitzner said.
“Hard to see that horse now not starting favourite wherever it goes.”
With the three-year-old Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) coming up on the first day of November, Gannon is confident that Tempted will take out that $2 million Group 1.
“She’ll win a Coolmore off that and are they tempted, pardon the pun, to go to an Everest,” Gannon exclaimed.
“They have to be, that was an exceptional win.
“Huge win there by Tempted, really good win.”
The Godolphin star opened at $5 (on Sportsbet) and was a market mover into $3.90 prior to the race beginning.
Gannon believes Godolphin knew that their star sprinter was a great chance and piled money onto her prior to the Group 2.
“They knew, that was as big a move as you would see,” Gannon said.
“The market movers are coming for these (Godolphin) horses.
“I’m lost for words.”
After her stellar first-up run, Pfitnzer sees Tempted now as nothing but the horse to beat.
“To do that - ears pricked over the line, Ciaron Maher one trail,” Pfitzner exclaimed.
“It’s now the horse to beat, straight up.
“22 weeks off, good luck beating her wherever she goes.
“She’d be favourite for the lot.”
