Can She’s A Hustler compete in spring features?
Does She’s A Hustler have the ability to compete in Australia’s spring feature staying races in 2026?
That’s the question SENTrack’s Gareth Hall posed to expert tipster David Gately and mounting yard analyst Pete Anthonisz.
The Grahame Begg-trained five-year-old won the Group 2 Zipping Classic (2400m) on Saturday, defeating two-time Group 1 winner Light Infantry Man, and improving her incredible record to seven victories from 11 starts.
In fact, in the four races which the mare hasn’t won, she finished second in each of those runs.
The bay has accumulated $840,000 in prize money and has shown elite ability to be able to run well across long distances against Australia’s best – winning three races above 2000m and running second in another two.
Also, Begg confirmed on RSN’s Correct Weight that his horse will be travelling up north to continue her campaign in Queensland in a bid to further develop her racing game.
Gately was the first to answer the question, stating that getting the better of Light Infantry Man is a good benchmark victory for her future.
“Yeah, she's got to keep improving, but Light Infantry Man is a reasonable line to draw,” Gator said on SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up.
“Light Infantry Man’s just run quite well in a Cox Plate, quite well in a Group 1 Champions Stake.
“So, what she (She’s A Hustler) was able to do on Saturday was perform at weight-for-age. Of course, in races like big handicaps, she's going to get some weight relief.
“Let's see how she goes in Queensland. It's obviously a recipe that worked for Half Yours and a million other horses.”
Both Hall and Anthonisz agreed that Begg’s Queensland plan for She’s A Hustler should pay dividends for next year, referencing the recent success of the Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Half Yours who won the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup double.
Anthonisz: “Yeah, I completely agree.
“That's an exciting setup for next year.”
Hall: “I love the recipe going to Queensland.
“It's proven in the past and especially in the last couple of springs, it's been a successful recipe.
“Including, of course, this year with Half Yours winning a Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup.”
She’s A Hustler is currently $20 to win the 2026 Caulfield Cup with Sportsbet.
