Rosberg is currently the $3.90 favourite (on Sportsbet) to win the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1100m) and trainer Clint McDonald believes the horse wins this race 9 times out of 10.
The three-year-old colt has only competed in one race, where it won by 0.5 lengths and now it will be making his second ever start.
McDonald believes the bay has been “faultless” with everything he does and is confident Rosberg will head into this race in excellent shape.
“He’s been fantastic this horse, he hasn’t put a foot wrong,” McDonald told RSN’s First Word.
“We’ve had a faultless preparation so far and he’s doing everything right.
“He’s had a month between runs, he’s freshened up nice coming back from 1200m to 1100m.
“We are going there expecting him to go very close to winning but respecting the opposition as well – Tentyris is a lovely horse, My Gladiola is a terrific filly.
“Everything he does he does with so much ease - he’s not colty, he’s very professional.
“The horse is in good order – he’s fit, he’s well – so, it’s up to Benny Melham (jockey) not to stuff it up.”
When McDonald was asked about how confident he is that Rosberg wins the Group 2, the trainer admitted that he told the owners that from barrier 2 the horse is looking bound to win.
“I said to the owners, ‘Barrier 2 I’m probably a 9 out of 10 (for Rosberg to win), if he would’ve drawn 5 it would’ve been an 11 out of 10,’” McDonald exclaimed.
“So, I think the horse will win and I think he will show the real horse today.
“You only saw half of him at The Valley.”
Rosberg races at 3:15pm in Race 6 at Flemington.
