"Dominant": Neindorf sees improvement ahead for gun filly
Snow Mercy won the Group 3 Scarborough Stakes (1200m) at huge odds on Friday at Moonee Valley.
The Phillip Stokes trained filly was ridden by two-time Group 1 winner Lachlan Neindorf, who also won the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude with Ferivia on Saturday.
Neindorf joined RSN and SENTrack’s Correct Weight to break down Snow Mercy’s incredible victory.
“Snow Mercy had a really nice feel, she always has to be honest,” the jockey said.
“She’s a lovely type. She’s quite a muscly filly and she’s got a will to win.
“She’s handled herself really well.
“To power over the top of them late was very nice.”
The two-time Group 1 winner revealed that Snow Mercy is still slightly immature, meaning she has plenty of improvement ahead of her.
“She definitely has got a lot more to come,” Neindorf said.
“She’s still not the finished product maturity wise.
“Even when she hit the front, she probably thought that her job was done a little bit, she’s still a bit young in that sense.
“She’ll get better with racing and I think she’s definitely gonna be better in a preps time.”
When asked about whether the three-year-old filly will increase her racing distance to 1400m, Neindorf admitted that she is probably better suited to just sprinting races.
“It’ll be interesting whether she gets to 1400m or not,” the jockey said.
“I personally think she’s probably better suited to sprinting distances.
“Especially while she’s been dominant in these sprint races, I don’t think too much needs to change.”
Neindorf’s victory on Snow Mercy resulted in a 10-meeting suspension for careless riding, which will start on September 29 and conclude on October 8.
