Homecoming for Kambosos as must-win fight approaches
George Kambosos Jr. will return to Sydney to fight in his hometown for the first time in eight years as he looks to return to title contention.
The 31-year-old will tackle Indonesian Daud ‘Cino’ Yordan at Qudos Bank Arena on 22 March. Yordan (43-4, 31 Ko’s) is a previous IBO featherweight and lightweight champion and will enter the bout on the back of five successive wins.
Kambosos Jr. entered 2022 with an unblemished 21-0 record prior to his highly anticipated fight against Devin Haney who remains undefeated. The Sydney native lost the first fight on 5 June 2022 and accepted the rematch clause. Both fights went to the maximum 12 rounds but Kambosos Jr. lost both fights by unanimous decision.

Kambosos Jr. bounced back in 2023 with a points decision victory over Britain’s Maxi Hughes to claim the IBO lightweight title. He would surrender the title 10 months later against Ukrainian dual Olympic Gold Medallist Vasiliy Lomachenko. The bout went 11 rounds before Lomachenko was awarded the fight via TKO.
In search of another chance to claim a title, Kambosos Jr. must win against Yordan to put himself in contention to compete for titles within the junior welterweight division.
Catch Kambosos Jr. v Yordan on March 22 at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.
