Hawks and Breakers continue their winning ways as Kings rough patch of form extends

The Illawarra Hawks have surged into the top four of the NBL table after proving to be too strong for the Sydney Kings on Saturday night.
The Hawks were in control for most of the game as they led by as much as nine points at half time. The likes of Trey Kell (19 points) and Lee Hyun-jung (16 points) off the bench helped steady the strong momentum and ultimately create the 86-79 victory.
For the Kings, this defeat adds to their rough patch of form as they drop their third loss from over their past five games.
The Hawks will look to continue their winning ways, when they take on the top of the table New Zealand Breakers on Thursday night.
Meanwhile for the Kings, they’ll look to bounce back on Friday when they travel to the last placed Cairns Taipans, who will also be coming off a defeat.
The Taipans were no match for the top of the table New Zealand Breakers, who ran out 77-69 winners at the Cairns Convention Centre on Saturday night.
A 15-point performance from Matt Mooney, along with Peter Jackson-Cartwright’s (11 points and 7 rebounds) solid output ensured that the Taipans weren’t going to snap their losing streak.
The Taipans haven’t won a game since the 6th of October, when they defeated Melbourne United by a whopping 13 points.
The NBL action continues on Sunday with Montrezl Harrell’s Adelaide 36ers taking on Melbourne United. A win for the 36ers would see them edge closer to a vital top two spot on the NBL table.
Round nine is then capped off with the Brisbane Bullets hosting the Perth Wildcats at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
