Star mare has Golden Eagle at “her mercy”

Autumn Glow has the Golden Eagle at her mercy this Saturday.
The gun Chris Waller mare, to be ridden by James McDonald, drew barrier 9 for the $10 million race over 1500m at Randwick.
Regardless of the handy gate in a field of 17, the undefeated mare should really be too good for what is considered a moderate edition of the Golden Eagle.
Racing And Sports form analyst Adam Blencowe concedes Japanese raider Panja Tower must be respected - especially given Obamburumai won the 2023 version off similar formlines - but truly can’t see Autumn Glow going under to this lot.
“She’s going to be sitting there towelling up Panja Tower and Seagull’s Eleven to the roars of the Randwick crowd,” Blencowe said on SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up.
“She’s got that at her mercy. I think Panja Tower won the race that Obamburumai and Ascoli Piceno both placed in then came down here and one won and one was hugely well backed 12 months ago.
“So that Panja Tower formline, you would say that he’s a strong candidate for the Japanese but his figures are a bit below.
“She (Autumn Glow) should have that at her mercy.”
SENTrack’s Gareth Hall believes the barrier is perfect for the unblemished Autumn Glow to blend in at the right time and power to an eighth straight victory.
“That’s perfect for her,” Hall said.
“Middle of the line, James McDonald can get her into a lovely spot and she will firm up from that draw.
“It’s also a great draw for Sepals in barrier 6.”
Autumn Glow is currently the $2.15 favourite with Sportsbet for the Golden Eagle ahead of Linebacker and Panja Tower both at $5.50.
