Friday best bets from Brown & Luke (07/08)
Campbell Brown & Cam Luke have your Friday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Seymour, Mount Gambier, Coffs Harbour, Ipswich & Canberra in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
Campbell Brown
SEYMOUR
Race 4 | 1. Eeny Meeny
Robbie Griffiths runner who won on debut before going to town in Adelaide. Drew wide, was slow out worded fwd but was 3/4 wide but was fantastic to line, that was six weeks between runs. Will strip fitter today and be the horse they have to run down.
COFFS HARBOUR
Race 3 | 7. Spendzalot
On debut at Coffs but racing in great form having won two out of the last three. Lugged 61kgs to victory last start so drop to 55kg today is a plus. Fit and in form. No reason he can't go on with it in this small field.
MOUNT GAMBIER
Race 2 | 8. Piklemegranmother
Trialled well. Should be hard to beat.
IPSWICH
Race 3 | 2. Chevallum
Terrific first prep winning two and running second twice. Will be back today a much better horse, as trial suggests. No speed here, so expecting Jag to jump and go forward from the good gate. If we get left alone in front will be very, very hard to get past.
CANBERRA
Race 2 | 7. Star Turn Dancer
Got back and ran on well last start. 4kg apprentice engaged today so gets in really light and steps up in trip. Will be closing hard.

Cam Luke
SEYMOUR
Race 2 | 9. Invicto
Drawn well to jump and hold the fence at the speed. Has trialled well since the poor resuming run but I am happy to forgive due to a horrible gate and run in transit. That race also a bit better than this. His runs in the autumn in much better races than this would be good enough for this. He'll be a long way in front of the danger (Misty, back from the gate) and I think that will be the difference.
Race 4 | 1. Eeny Meeny
Off six weeks, three wide not much cover and still was huge late in Adelaide last start was a run full of a bunch of merit. She finds an easier race (although it's deep for a Seymour Friday) a slightly better gate and a quicker turnaround. She will have come on from that Morph run and staying at the 1100m I think works. Going to be very hard to beat and my best at Seymour today.
Race 8 | 13. Alien Angel
Got a peach of a ride from Jye McNeil last start when breaking the maiden and was way too good. Gets to 1400m which looks like will work even more and she is a big rangey mare who will enjoy the longer straight. Drawn lovely to have a lovely stalking run and she will savage the line even more with more racing experience. Toe into the ground no hurt and going to be very hard to beat. One out in the quaddie to get us home!
COFFS HARBOUR
Race 3 | 5. Fay's Angel
Gets back to 2000m and it's on the back of coming out of a really good form race. She is drawn nicely to have the perfect run without going around a horse. This is easier than her last few runs that have all been in town. There isn’t a hige amount of speed on paper so she might use the gate to be closer than normal. The fave will want it a little quicker to play to his second up strength but I am with the fitter horse to be too tough late.
Race 5 | 1. My Mum's Toyboy
Forgot the Ramornie, horrible gate and a head wind led to weakening horse late. This also is a fair bit easier. Has had time since that run but stays at the 1200m. Drawn nicely and the claim for GS helps offset the weight a little. Rain is no issue and I think back to this level with a better set up makes MMT the one to beat in the Sprint.
Race 7 | 12. Perfect Justice
Will not have an excuse in the world from that gate. Drops back to the 1600m which is a MASSIVE tick and the soft track doesn't have an issue in the world. I can't see a major speed horse in the race so PJ will be a lot better suited in the run than HH will as he will be a bit further back. SG riding well and with the 54kg and the run of the race, this horse will win the Cup!
CANBERRA
Race 4 | 3. Merchant Reign
Forget start when nothing went right and was never in the hunt. This is an easier race with a better gate and back on a surface which can be tricky but he has won on it before. With the claim and the gate I do expect this horse to be forward in the run. Fave Geostorm goes into the quaddie and loves the Syntho as well but will need some luck early from a tricky gate to control the race as per, so I'm with MR who has been placed well here.
Race 6 | 1. Action King
A drying track and peak fitness is why I'm leading this girls way. Forgiving her for last start but she does normally handle the toe into the ground. Getting up in trip helps and with the 4kg claim, wouldn't stun me if they try and push forward. Only been here the once but it was in a deeper 58 than this and she was great. Does need a couple of things luck wise to go her way from the tricky gate but she will be very hard to beat.
