The future of Francis Molo has finally been confirmed, with the ex-Dragons prop inking a two-year deal with The Dolphins.
The signing will see Molo join The Dolphins effective immediately, bringing to an end a lengthy contract saga that has been ongoing since the end of January.
Molo reportedly didn’t want to attend the Dragons’ Mad Monday celebrations to stay away from alcohol, but a comment from a staffer over the matter offended the prop, and saw him refuse to train and demand a release.
The former Queensland representative has since been granted his request release with Molo to pay back the six-figure sum he has been paid this year.
Reacting to the news, Joel Caine and Bryan Fletcher hoped the Molo news didn’t mean bad news for injured Dolphins’ prop Tom Flegler.
“I hope their appetite for Molo doesn’t mean that Flegler’s been pushed back on his return,” Caine said on SEN 1170 Drive.
“(Kevin Walters) said (Flegler’s) really improved, he doesn’t look like he’ll be back this year. He’s got to build the strength back up.”
The prop has played 138 NRL games and has two State of Origin appearances for Queensland, beginning his career with the Broncos in 2014 and 2015, before returning to the NRL with the Cowboys between 2018 and 2021.
