Forecasting the big racing stories in 2025 and an early call on the Cox Plate
SENTrack’s Cam Luke and Mick Gannon have predicted the biggest racing stories ahead of the 2025 calendar year.
Read Lukes thoughts below.
Autumn Glow set for stardom
“I think the Autumn Glow story is going to be big,” he said on SENTrack.
“Chris Waller and the crew clearly think she’s a star.”

2025 will be a big year for Another Wil
“I think there’ll be a little bit around Another Wil. Chasing a Group 1 of course, the passing of Col McKenna and his affinity with the horse.
“I do like Another Wil for the All-Star Mile. He just feels like an All-Star Mile type of horse.”
Aussie favourite to HK, HK star to Australia
“I’m looking forward to Mr Brightside’s Hong Kong attempt. He is a star.
“I don’t think there’s any doubt that there’s going to be the Hong Kong sprinting superstar (Ka Ying Rising) versus one or two Australian superstars, probably led by Switzerland and Growing Empire, when it comes to an Everest in 12 months’ time.”
I Wish I Win to target WFA races
“I’d love it if Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman tried to have a crack at a mile/2000m weight-for-age campaign with I Wish I Win.
“He went to the Toorak as a favourite and that race brings plenty of horses unstuck. He’s not a unique horse to not run great in a Toorak, but I don’t think that suggests he’s not a miler.
“There’s a few off the top of the head.”
Luke also made a massive early call on the 2025 Cox Plate.
“Autumn Glow and Broadsiding in a same race multi, both run top three in the Cox Plate.”
Read Gannon’s thoughts below.
Storm Boy to win UK Group 1
“Storm Boy winning a Group 1 over in the UK, the 1200m Jubilee. That will be a big one.
“That headline I think we will see. It’s almost a foregone conclusion, I think the horse will fly over there.”
Switzerland to bypass Everest, HK sprinter or Aussie colt to win
“Switzerland to run in a Newmarket into a TJ (Smith) tilt, then potentially a UK set-up, but unlikely.
“Ka Ying Rising to run in The Everest. That Hong Kong horse absolutely has that race at his mercy.
“Maybe Growing Empire in an Everest. He’ll be back bigger, better, stronger. One of those to horses (to win The Everest).”
