FIFA World Cup 2026: Sport Nation commentary guide for opening week

After the build up of qualifiers, a draw reveal, and warmup matches, FIFA World Cup 2026 is finally upon us.
Sport Nation is an official radio broadcaster of the tournament with 39 matches, including every All Whites game and the finals, alongside our partners SEN.
Football's global showcase begins with co-hosts Mexico taking on South Africa in a Group A matchup that will have Aztec Stadium humming, kicking off Friday morning (NZ time).
Here's your guide for all the matches from the group stage's opening week that will be live on the Sport Nation network and where you can still listen to our flagship shows Scotty & Izzy, Mornings, Afternoons, and Millsy & Guy.

Friday, June 12
Mexico vs South Africa at Mexico City Stadium: from 6am on Sport Nation Extra via the SN app and web (kick-off 7am)
Saturday, June 13
Canada vs Bosnia and Herzegovina at Toronto Stadium: from 6am on all New Zealand frequencies, the app and web (kick-off 7am)
Followed by The Saturday Session with Daniel McHardy from 10am to 1pm.
Sunday, June 14
Australia vs Türkiye at BC Place, Vancouver: from 2pm on all NZ frequencies, the app and web (kick-off 4pm)

Monday, June 15
Netherlands vs Japan at Dallas Stadium: from 7am on Sport Nation Extra via the app and web (kick-off 8am)
All regular Sport Nation weekday programming will be available on radio, app and web during this match.
Tuesday, June 16
Belgium vs Egypt at Seattle Stadium: from 6.45am on all NZ frequencies, the app and web (kick-off 7am)
Scotty & Izzy will begin on all NZ frequencies from 6am before shifting to Sport Nation Extra (app/web) from 6.45am for the remainder of the show. The beginning of Sport Nation Mornings will also be on SN Extra before rejoining radio from 9.15am.
Studs Up! FIFA World Cup Special begins 12pm ahead of the All Whites' opening match, and will return for post-match coverage from 3.15pm to 4pm.
New Zealand vs Iran at Los Angeles Stadium: from 12.45pm on all NZ frequencies, the app and web (kick-off 1pm)
There will be no Afternoons show on this day, but Millsy & Guy will begin from 4pm on all NZ frequencies, the app and web.

England vs Croatia at Dallas Stadium: from 7.45am on all NZ frequencies, the app and web (kick-off 8am)
Scotty & Izzy will begin on all NZ frequencies from 6am before shifting to SN Extra from 7.45am for the show's remainder. Sport Nation Mornings will begin on SN Extra before rejoining from 10.15am.
