Upsets everywhere blow Premier League title race wide open
Brentford, Crystal Palace, Sunderland and Brighton have all pulled off upsets in the Premier League overnight, causing the table to become a lot tighter then what it previously was heading into matchday 6.
Palace’s win was the most notable from Saturday night’s fixture, with their performance against reigning Premier League champions Liverpool sees them rise to second on the table at the conclusion of their sixth game of the season.
Ismalia Sarr’s strike in the 9th minute opened proceedings for the FA Cup champions, which then saw Liverpool turn up the notch in attack for majority of the contest.
After firing 20 shots at goal, Liverpool could only manage the one goal, with super sub Federico Chiesa levelling the scores in the 87th minute.
However, Palace found a way to have the last say of the match with Edward Nketiah firing home the winner in the 97th minute to give Crystal Palace their third win of the season.
Pressure on Ruben Amorim has only increased after his Manchester United side lost to Brentford 3-1 away from home in the early kick off.
Despite an impressive victory against Chelsea the week prior, United struggled to produce their desire to win for the beginning of the match, allowing Brentford to lead 2-0 inside the opening 20 minutes of the contest with ease.

Igor Thiago, who score two of the Bees’ three goals of the game, proved to be the ultimate difference in the first half.
Benjamin Sesko’s first goal in United colours was the only highlight for Ruben Amorim’s men, which came in the 26th minute of the match.
United had a chance to equalise the contest in the 74th minute when former Brentford player Bryan Mbeumo was taken down the box.
However, Bruno Fernandes’ recent penalty woes were clearly still playing a factor in his mind as he missed the penalty.
Mathias Jensen then ensured that the three points were for certain going to the home side, as he fired home Brentford’s third goal of the match to ensure they walk away 3-1 winners.
Chelsea have now let another winnable Premier League match slip after they fell to Brighton 3-1 at home.
Despite taking the lead thanks to an Enzo Fernandez header in the 24th minute, Chelsea couldn’t find a way to hold off Brighton who ended up finishing the match with an avalanche of goals.
Chelsea clearly struggled in defence when they lost Trevoh Chalobah in the 54th minute to a red card, as Brighton would then score the equaliser only 24 minutes later.
From there, the Seagulls maintained control of the match as they found a way to fire home their next two goals in the 90th minute.
Danny Welbeck (77th and 90th minute) and Maxim De Cuyper (90th minute) were the culprits who helped Brighton gain their second win of the season and move to tenth on the Premier League table.
Ange Postecoglou’s start at Nottingham Forest has only continued to get worse as his side lost 1-0 at home to newly promoted Sunderland overnight.
Despite having a plethora of chances to score after they fell behind in the 38th minute, Forest couldn’t find a way to gain an equaliser and thus, see themselves sitting in 16th and on the verge of the relegation zone very early in the season.
Leeds United fought on strong to walk away with a 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth, who have begun the season strongly.
The Cherries, who currently sit fifth on the Premier League table, could’ve been as high as second if they had won overnight.
Antoine Semenyo has continued his terrific start to the season as he scored his fourth goal of the season.
Manchester City have gained their third win of the season after thumping Burnley at home 5-1 overnight.
Erling Haaland got on the end of two goals late in the contest, which now sees him at the top of the goal scoring leaderboard with eight goals for the season so far.
And thanks to a gorgeous strike from Joao Palhinha in the 90th minute, Tottenham have managed to walk away from their contest with Wolverhampton at home with at least a point as that match finished 1-1.
Still to come, Aston Villa host a must win contest with Fulham on Sunday night as the Villans continue to find a way to gain their first three points of the season.
Newcastle will host Arsenal in a monster contest on Monday morning, with second spot up for grabs for the Gunners.
And Everton round out matchday six with a home contest against West Ham on Tuesday morning, which will be the Hammers first game without previous manager Graham Potter after he and the club parted ways on Saturday night.
