United bounce back as Spurs suffer first defeat after Ange sacking
Manchester United have bounced back from their shock league cup defeat earlier in the week with a 3-2 win over Burnley overnight.
An own goal in the first half from Burnley’s captain Josh Cullen saw the Reds be rewarded for their first half dominance, despite wasting multiple chances to have the game put to bed early.
United’s missed chances early opened the door for the Clarets to equalise in the 55th minute, thanks to Lyle Foster tap in.
Bryan Mbeumo scored his first Premier League goal for the Red devils two minutes later when he gave United the lead back.
But Jaidon Anthony ensured Burnley wouldn’t go down without a fight after equalising again in the 66th minute.
However, Anthony would go from hero to villain when he brought down Amad Diallo in the box in the 90th minute to give away a penalty.
And despite the criticism he received last week for missing his penalty against Fulham, Bruno Fernandes stood up to the plate and converted to give United their first win of the season.
Tottenham have suffered their first defeat of the season after shockingly going down to Bournemouth at home.
The one goal from Evanilson in the fifth minute was enough to separate the two sides, despite the Cherries having 20 shots to five for the match.
It’s a step back for the Spurs and new coach Thomas Frank, who begun the season on fire with big wins against Burnley and Manchester City.
Wolverhampton remain pointless at the end of their third match week after suffering a 3-2 defeat to Everton at home.
Jack Grealish was again the star for the Toffee’s as he recorded two more assists to go along with his four that he’s recorded so far this season.
The win for Everton also now sees them sit in fifth position at the moment, the highest they’ve been on the Premier League table for years now.
Nothing could separate Leeds and Newcastle, as they played out a 0-0 draw at Elland Road.
The need for a striker was proven very important again for Newcastle, as they record their second game from three this season without scoring.
A side that hasn’t had any problems with scoring is the top of the table Chelsea who knocked off cross town rivals Fulham 2-0 overnight.
Controversially, Fulham were denied the opening goal of the game after a foul that was committed in the build up play.
Muniz accidentally stepping on the foot of Adarabioyo was enough for the referee to cancel out that goal, which sees Fulham remain with only two goals from their first three games.
And Sunderland pulled off their second win of the season since coming back into the Premier League after coming from behind to defeat Brentford at home.
The 2-1 win was orchestrated with goals from Enzo Le Fee (82nd minute) and Wilson Isidor (90th minute) who have helped the Black Cats move to sixth on the table after their first three games.
Still to come, Brighton will be hosting Manchester City who are looking to bounce back from their disappointing loss to Tottenham in the week prior.
Nottingham Forest will look to get back on the winners list when they take on the struggling West Ham at home.
Aston Villa have a great opportunity to record their first win of the season when they host Crystal Palace on Monday morning as Liverpool host Arsenal in a mouth watering contest to decide who would be sitting at the top of the table after match week three.
