Ange Postecoglou’s campaign at Nottingham Forest has gotten off to an awful start after they were defeated 3-0 away from home to Arsenal overnight.
The Australian manager’s side were under the pump early in the contest, with the Gunners dominating possession and territory which eventually led to the opening goal of the game in the 32nd minute.
A beautiful Martin Zubimendi volley was the catalyst for the opening goal, as Viktor Gyokeres then made matter worse for Forest when he finished a simple tap in early in the second half.
Zubimendi wrapped up his man of the match performance with a second goal in the second half, heading in a cross from Leandro Trossard to ensure the Gunners would rise to the top of the table after their fourth game of the season.
Chelsea couldn’t find a way to escape with a win from their contest with Brentford as both sides had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
Fabio Carvalho finding himself at the back post unmarked allowed the Bees to stunningly equalise in the 90th minute, preventing the Blues from holding their position at the top of the table.
Newcastle only needed one half of dominance to get the job done against Wolverhampton, walking away from that contest with a 1-0 victory.
Nick Woltermade (29th minute) was the difference maker in the end, scoring a header in the first half hour to cap off an impressive debut.
Bournemouth have continued their strong start to the Premier League season. A 2-1 victory over Brighton sees the Cherries gain their third win in a row after suffering an opening day defeat to Liverpool.
Due to other results going their way, they sit equal on nine points with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham, who are only ahead of them due to goal difference at the conclusion of their fourth matchday.
Tottenham climbed to equal top after they took care of the free falling West Ham overnight.
The Hammers, who were coming off an impressive win away to Nottingham Forest before the international break, now find themselves struggling in 18th with relegation looking more and more likely as the weeks go on.
No team has conceded more goals than the Hammers thus far, with their defence letting in 11 goals after four games.
Nothing could separate Crystal Palace and Sunderland, as both sides walked away with a point from their 0-0 contest.
Same can be said for both Everton and Aston Villa, who also played out a 0-0 draw in the early window.
And Fulham left it dramatically late to take home the three points against Leeds, scoring in the 90th minute to grab a 1-0 win at home.
Stunningly, it was an own goal from Leeds’ Gabriel Gudmundsson which separated the two sides. An early contender for potentially the best own goal of the season.
Still to come, Burnley host the reigning champions Liverpool at Turf Moor, whilst Manchester City host Manchester United in a highly anticipated Manchester derby on Monday morning.
