Fulham have extended Tottenham’s struggles at home after defeating the Spurs 2-1 overnight.
The match was practically decided within the first 10 minutes of the contest, when the visitors were able to score twice to hold a 2-0 lead. The two goals, which were scored within 5 minutes and 43 seconds, is now the fastest time in Tottenham’s history that they’ve conceded two goals at home in a Premier League game.
And it was the second goal that was not only stunning from the visitors, but also harrowing from Tottenham’s goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who had a moment that he’d love to forget as quick as possible.
When trying to clear the ball after exiting the box, Vicario’s clearance went straight to a Fulham player, who from there teed up Harry Wilson along the touchline.
With no goalkeeper on the goal line, nor a Spurs defender, Wilson decided to take it upon himself to curl home a screamer and inflict more pain on the home side.
It could’ve been a lot worse as well. But thanks to the woodwork, Samuel Chukwueze was denied what would’ve been a beautiful goal which should’ve made it game over from there.
And despite Mohammed Kudos slamming in his side’s first goal of the match in the 59th minute, Tottenham’s efforts wouldn’t be enough as they go on to suffer their fourth loss at home this season.
Brentford have risen to inside the top 10 of the Premier League table after leaving it late to seal off a 3-1 win at home to Burnley.
Igor Thiago’s hot form continues, as the Brazilian banked in his 11th goal of the season. Thiago sits second in the Golden Boot race, trailing only to Erling Haaland who has 14 goals this season so far.
Haaland’s Manchester City avoided a costly draw at home by finding a winner late to ensure they walked away from their clash against Leeds as 3-2 winners.
Phil Foden, who scored both in the first minute of the clash and the 90th minute, was the difference maker in helping City gain a vital three points and stay within touching distance of Arsenal at the top of the league.
Sunderland had to construct one of the craziest comebacks of the season as they defeated Bournemouth at home 3-2 in the pouring rain.
An action-packed contest, which contained a goal from halfway, a penalty and a red card, the Black Cats were able to find a way to rally from 2-0 down within the first 15 minutes of the game to ensure that their hot start to the season continues.
Sunderland’s sixth win of the season now sees them sitting in fourth place midway through matchday 13, which is higher than most people expected them to be in at this point of the season.
Everton couldn’t extend their unbeaten streak to four games against Newcastle at home overnight, as the Magpies dominated from start to finish to walkaway 4-1 winners.
A howler moment from Everton’s goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for Newcastle’s second goal summed up Everton’s efforts in this contest, with nothing going right for the Toffee’s who were coming off a brave 1-0 victory away from home against Manchester United earlier in the week.
Still to come, Manchester United will look to try and bounce back from their disappointing loss to Everton on Tuesday, when they travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday night.
Early on Monday morning, Aston Villa look to continue their impressive turn around in form when they host bottom of the table Wolves.
Nottingham Forest will look to continue their fight from the relegation zone when they host Brighton. And West Ham can make it four games unbeaten with a win or draw when they host the struggling Liverpool early Monday morning.
Matchday 13 is wrapped up with a blockbuster clash in London, as Chelsea host Arsenal in what will be regarded as a major title determining clash for the 2025/26 season.
