Globe scratched: Cox Plate field down to eight
The Cox Plate field is down to eight runners with the confirmation of Globe’s scratching.
The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr stable has officially confirmed that the last-start winner will not run in Saturday’s weight-for-age Group 1 at Moonee Valley.
Globe, who won the Group 1 Might And Power on October 25, pulled up sore after galloping last Saturday and Racing Victoria (RV) vets have opted to scratch him.
The seven-year-old gelding was considered the key speed influence in the Cox Plate - a race that quite often depends on tempo, tactics and speed.
Last year’s winner Via Sistina remains a firm $2.20 favourite with Sportsbet for the 2040m Group 1 at The Valley which jumps at 5:40pm AEDT on Saturday.
