Cornes slams Kyrgios again after tennis star goes after Nine host Tony Jones
Kane Cornes has slammed Nick Kyrgios after the Aussie tennis player dug the boot into Nine host Tony Jones.
Kyrgios got Cornes’ attention after posting a video about Jones - who made ill-timed on-air comments that led Djokovic to boycott a post-match interview - where he asked, ‘How the f— does this guy still have a f—ing job? It is putrid stuff’.
The tennis star then followed up that message with a video on his Instagram page poking fun at Jones alongside Aussie comedian Elliot Loney.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Cornes said he didn’t want to allow Kyrgios to get away with ‘disrespect’ and reminded the 29-year-old about some of the gaffes he’s made himself over his tennis journey.
“I just can't believe I'm going here again but it never ceases to amaze me with Nick Kyrgios and the lack of self-awareness around this guy,” Cornes said on SEN Breakfast.
“I just couldn't let him get away with the disrespect in that, and I wasn't here to defend Tony Jones, none of us were, we completely disagree with what TJ did.
“But in the end it was ill-timed, awkward humour, there was no malice in what Tony Jones said.
“He's saying that Tony Jones shouldn't have a job as a result, but I just want to remind Nick of some of the things that he has done over the journey that makes what Tony Jones did pale into insignificance in terms of misdemeanours.
“The lack of self-awareness around this guy, how glassy his jaw is, is like nothing I have ever seen.
“That is why he is 100 per cent Australia's most disappointing athlete for what he could have been versus what he's turned out to be.”
Cornes and Kyrgios previously went back and forth on X with the tennis star posting, ‘@kanecornes gotta love comments from a athlete who didn’t play a global sport .. appreciate the kind works brother x’.
