Canada captain Stephen Eustaquio believes fans can look forward with hope to the 2030 World Cup after the co-hosts bowed out at the last-16 stage to Morocco.
Sunday's (NZ time) 3-0 defeat in Houston was harsh on Jesse Marsch's side, who have taken their first World Cup point, maiden World Cup wins and reached the knock-outs for the first time at a men's global tournament over recent weeks.
"We're leaving Canadian soccer in a better place," Eustaquio told FIFA.
"I think it was amazing for everybody to see back home in Toronto, Vancouver, especially in the fan parties. Hopefully, the whole country was the same. Everybody jumping, everybody screaming, everybody supporting.

"It ends, but at the same time I think everybody back home should be very supportive for the next four years."
The expansion of the World Cup to 48 teams means Canada's chances of qualifying for 2030 in Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay is much enhanced having only qualified three times before.
"We worked a lot to get to this stage and have a good performance," the midfielder added.
"Obviously, getting out of the group stage was an amazing feeling. And then winning that knock-out round against South Africa was top for the country.
"There was a point at halftime (against Morocco) that we felt we could have pushed this and made it to the quarter-finals, but at the same time, it was details.
"But I can be proud of the group. I think we did an amazing job. And we look forward to another four-year cycle."
