Can 'sizzling' Cronulla take the next step towards premiership contention?

SEN’s Andrew Voss has put the Cronulla Sharks in the gun as he wants to see them go another level to take them from a finals mainstay to a true premiership contender.
Cronulla has been one of the more consistent sides within the NRL having made the finals for the last three seasons and managed to progress to the preliminary final last year.
And this season they have gotten off to a good start having won their last two against North Queensland and South Sydney in convincing fashion which sees them sit 8th on the ladder with a point difference of 33.
But Voss thinks that for Cronulla to be taken more seriously by the NRL world, they need to show more their scintillating attack against fellow finals contender, the Bulldogs tomorrow night to be seen as a chance for the premiership.
“Is the Cronulla of 2025 any better, than the Cronulla of 2024 and 2023?” Voss pondered on SEN 1170’s Breakfast with Vossy and Brandy.
“Which has been good you know, they had finals.
“But when are they going to take the next step?
“They talk about premiership window, Addin Fonua-Blake is the big addition to it.
“I’m saying, tomorrow night…it is the benchmark test for Cronulla.
“I’m putting them in the gun because if I am a Cronulla fan, I want to see Cronulla take the next step.
“Canterbury is a really good side, they’re down on troops, no Kikau, no Burton but their defence will hold up.
“So, I want to see sizzling Cronulla attack take on dogged, pardon the pun Bulldogs defence.
“I want to see how good the best of Cronulla is tomorrow night.
“And if they lose or don’t show much improvement from last year, I’m still going to have the question mark, well there going to be thereabouts but there not quite there.”
The Sharks will play the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs on Saturday night at Shark Park.
In the 40 games played between the two, both the Sharks and Bulldogs have won 20 games each showing the even nature between the two sides.
Kick off will take place at 7:35pm.
