Broadcasting icon John Henry joins SEN
Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) is proud to welcome legendary broadcaster, John Henry, to the SEN family, following the network’s acquisition of RSN 927.
With a career spanning nearly five decades, Henry is one of Australia’s most respected and versatile media personalities. Since beginning his career in 1978, Henry has worked across music, talkback, news, sport and racing, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
In the 1980s, John was a familiar voice on 3KZ and 3XY breakfast in Melbourne. The 1990s saw him host the nationally syndicated NightBeat Australia show from 2UW Sydney, which reached 33 stations and became the second-largest radio audience in the country behind the John Laws Show. He later hosted Drive Time talkback on 2SM Sydney, before joining Sky Racing in 2009 as an on-air presenter. Since 2015, John has been a key figure at RSN 927, bringing racing coverage to loyal listeners across Victoria.
Henry said he was looking forward to broadcasting across the SEN network.
“I am very happy to be joining the new ownership of Craig Hutchison and SEN and teaming with Sam Thompson, such a highly regarded radio executive and programmer, and Julian Bayard, who will driving the ship.”
“I'm looking forward to continuing my on-air association with the wonderfully loyal RSN audience across Victoria.”
SEN CEO, Craig Hutchison, added that he was looking forward to welcoming such an esteemed broadcaster to the network.
“John is a true legend of Australian broadcasting. His voice, experience and connection with audiences are unmatched, and we’re thrilled to have him as part of the SEN family.
“As we integrate RSN into our broader network, John’s presence will ensure continuity for listeners and elevate our racing coverage to new heights.”
The acquisition of RSN marks a significant expansion of SEN’s racing footprint, with plans to enhance programming, digital offerings and audience engagement across Victoria and beyond.
