North Queensland co-captain Reuben Cotter faces a nervous wait ahead of finals after being sensationally sin-binned and put on report just 15 seconds into their shocking 50-30 loss to Canberra.
Saturday's match in Townsville was highlighted by a stunning NRL debut by record-breaking Raiders halfback Coby Black, whose sublime kicking gave the Cowboys' back five nightmares in the most accomplished first-up game in premiership history.
The 20-year-old scored 26 points from two tries and nine goals from nine attempts, the most in 118 years of the premiership by a player on debut.
Cotter collected retiring veteran Josh Papalii high from the first hit-up of the match and was sin-binned for what referee Nick Pelgrave called a reckless shot to the head with force.

"It doesn't help getting sin-binned, but I thought it was head-on-head and I didn't feel like there was much in that," Cotter said of the incident.
The 27-year-old has already been charged three times, all grade one, by the Match Review Committee (MRC) this year, but has no extra loading on his record ahead of playing Cronulla in next week's elimination final.
Two of the charges have fallen off his record given they were more than 10 weeks ago and he successfully challenged a high-shot charge on Gold Coast's Jayden Campbell in round 23.
A grade two charge will see him suspended for the Sharks clash.
Papalii, playing in his 342nd and final NRL match for Canberra, went off for a HIA but returned to take his place in the front row and celebrate a farewell to remember.
Raiders coach Ricky Stuart said the team had two goals this week - to prove they were a better side than their 10th position on the ladder indicates and to show Papalii what he means to them.
"I thought Matt Timoko had a great game tonight and I said to him that he did all the little things well. He said to me, 'that was for Josh'," Stuart said.
"We talk about their mateship and camaraderie and it is for real."
There was nothing hanging on the result for North Queensland who already had their opening final against the Sharks locked in.
Injuries and suspensions were what Cowboys coach Todd Payten didn't want from the match so the fate of Queensland star Cotter will be a huge concern.
Veteran forward Jason Taumalolo was also put on report for a dangerous tackle in a shocking display by a side that will be fodder in the finals if they play like this.
Canberra scored first through winger Xavier Savage, while Cotter was off the field, and added two more in quick succession.
Fullback Kaeo Weekes sliced over and then Black, released at the end of last year by Brisbane, scored a cracker to give the visitors an 18-0 lead.
The Cowboys found their groove with Jake Clifford and John Bateman crossing.
Papalii, in a fitting end to a stellar career, scored his first try of the year with a powerhouse burrowing effort.
It came after a soaring and dipping torpedo kick by Black totally bamboozled fullback Scott Drinkwater.

Black and Weekes combined to put Savage over for his second on the cusp of halftime.
Drinkwater scored after the break but Black asserted himself soon afterwards with his second. Savage raced away to notch his hat-trick and Black laid on another with a sublime grubber for halves partner Ethan Strange.
With the Broncos not settled on their halfback for 2027 after releasing Black, the Brisbane hierarchy will have plenty of regrets that he is now entrenched in the nation's capital.
