Bosnich: My fears for Ange amid sacking rumours

Nottingham Forest’s owner has earned the right to hire and fire his managers – including Ange Postecoglou – as pressure mounts on the Australian, according to Mark Bosnich.
Less than a month into his tenure as Forest manager, Postecoglou is yet to secure his first win and, given the brutal environment that is management in the Premier League, rumours of his impending sacking have started.
Reports in the UK suggest that Fulham manager Marco Silva is being lined up as a long-term head coach with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis renowned for hiring out of work replacements like Postecoglou to avoid lengthy negotiations mid-season.
Since being appointed on September 9, Postecoglou has lost five and drawn two and the fixture is not looking any better after the current international break.
After a record breaking 2024-25 season, Forest are currently 17th on the ladder and come up against Chelsea, Porto and Bournemouth in the space of 10 days at the end of this month.
So what comes next for Postecoglou?
“I think he’s got until the next until the next international break, in terms of getting his first win,” Bosnich said on SEN 1170.
“The chairman/owner has earned the right to hire and fire as he pleases.
“I don't think he will sack Ange immediately because it will look really bad for him (but) Marinakis wants a manager that's going to guarantee they’re in the mix for trophies.
“Ange needs a win, and he needs it fast, but if you look after the international break, well they got Chelsea then Porto in the Europa League.
“Then Bournemouth away, then Manchester United at home. They, they are all hard games.
“If you keep losing, you're pretty much left with no choice; it’s easy to change one man that it is to change 23 players.”
Including his time with Tottenham, Postecoglou has one win from his last 16 in the league. It’s not a stat to be confident about.
Bosnich has faith the club will stand by Postecoglou for now, but his initial fears remain.
“Obviously we want him to do well but you have to that the Aussie bias out,” he continued.
I believe he deserves far more time than everyone's saying, but I will temper that with the fact that when he got the job I was a little bit concerned.
“The way that Forest play is basically the opposite to Ange’s way.
“I would turn around and have a meeting with the team and say ‘what are you guys comfortable in doing?’
“You could be the greatest manager the world has ever seen but you need to have the players that can implement that for you.”
