'Getting sacked in the morning': Pressure mounts on Ange at Nottingham
Ange Postecoglou said he was not surprised by fans calling for him to be sacked after Nottingham Forest slumped to yet another defeat.
Forest have failed to win any of their last six matches, with Thursday’s 3-2 Europa League defeat to Midtjylland securing Postecoglou the record of the worst start of any manager at the club in the last 100 years.
With Forest 1-3 down, fans started chanting “You’re getting sacked in the morning”, which, after just 23 days at the helm, did not come as a surprise to the Australia.
“The fans are disappointed, they’re entitled to have an opinion on it and I heard their opinion,” he said.
“Nothing surprises me anymore in football. I guess it’s just the climate we’re in and it seems that’s the way we’re going. My responsibility.
“I get the mood around the place isn’t going to be great, I understand people’s kind of attitude at the moment, particularly towards me, but I never worry about that, it’s not unfamiliar territory for me.
“I really believe that we’re on the right track and when we get through this period of uncertainty we’ll be on a good path.
“Of course I would prefer if people were optimistic in their outlook of what I’m doing. That’s only going to change by winning games of football.
“Respectfully that’s not going to change the way I’m taking things on I really believe in the process of what we’re doing and I don’t think we’re far away from being the kind of team that can get the results we need.”
Forest are currently 17th on the EPL ladder with a trip to Newcastle next on their fixture.
