Ange makes new declaration for next season
After fulfilling his prophecy and winning Tottenham a trophy in his second season, Ange Postecoglou has delivered another quote that will be speculated on throughout next season.
The Australian manager is basking in the glow of a Europa League victory having delivered Spurs its first trophy since 2008 and its first in European since 1981.
Speaking to the Spurs faithful as part of the parade festivities, Postecoglou alluded to his second-season success and how those in the media doubted his ability.
He also thanked his players and staff for the work they have put in to win the Europa League.
“I told them, and they laughed,” Postecoglou said as the Spurs fans cheered along.
“I told them, and they didn’t believe. But here we are.
“And we’re here because of this unbelievable group of people, players, staff, absolute heroes, led by the legend, Son Heung-Min, Cuti (Cristian) Romero, James Maddison, and Guglielmo Vicario.
“All of them heroes. And they did it all for you. Because you deserve it. This club deserves it”
But Postecoglou left the best till last.
“And I’ll tell you something, I’ll leave you with this,” Postecoglou said with bated breath.
“All the best television series', season three is better than season two.”
The crowd was sent into raptures off the back of his speech chanting the Aussie's name in the streets of North London.
His answer also reinforces his desire to coach Tottenham beyond this season and into the 25/26 season. His contract does not expire until 2027.
However, his coaching future has not been confirmed publicly by the club.
While not as impressive as his second-season record, Postecoglou has won trophies in his third season.
At South Melbourne, he won the 1998/99 NSL title. He would also win the 2011/12 A-League title with Brisbane Roar.
Tottenham still has one more game to go before it concludes its 24/25 season.
They will face Brighton on Monday morning (1am AEST) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
If they win and results go their way (West Ham, Wolves and Manchester United lose), Spurs could finish as high as 14th.
