All Blacks team named to face Stormers in South Africa tour opener

Prop Siale Lauaki and inside back Josh Jacomb are in line to make their All Blacks debuts from the bench when the All Blacks face the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday (NZ time).
They are joined in the matchday squad by seven players set to make their first appearances in the black jersey this year, including forwards Ollie Norris, Fabian Holland, Simon Parker and Ethan Blackadder, along with backs Kyle Preston, Beauden Barrett and Rieko Ioane.
Lock Patrick Tuipulotu will captain the All Blacks for the second time, having previously led the side against Japan in October 2024.
Head coach Dave Rennie congratulated the two potential debutants and said the squad was eager to begin the tour.
"Firstly, I want to congratulate the new All Blacks Siale and Josh," Rennie said in a statement. "It will be a very exciting and proud day for them and their families."

“We’ve had a great welcome in Cape Town and we’re excited to get this tour underway.
“We are really pleased with how our leaders, including match day captain Patrick and tour captain Codie, have prepared the group. We can’t wait for [Saturday].”
Rennie said the All Blacks were expecting a physical challenge from the Stormers, who reached the United Rugby Championship semifinals last season.
“They are a big, physical side with a mix of talented youngsters and Springboks, so we are preparing for a real war of attrition,” he said.
The match will be the first ever between the All Blacks and the Stormers. New Zealand previously played the Stormers’ predecessor, Western Province, five times, winning three and losing two.
It will also be the All Blacks’ second appearance at DHL Stadium, with their previous 10 Tests in Cape Town played at Newlands.
Overall, the All Blacks have played 25 matches in Cape Town, recording 17 wins, seven losses and one draw.
