Alexander: Sea Eagles must return Turbo to fullback
SEN’s Greg Alexander has called for Manly to move Tom Trbojevic from the centres back to his preferred position of fullback if they are any chance of claiming the 2025 Premiership.
After a run of patchy form hampered by injury, Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold made the call to replace Trbojevic with Lehi Hopoate at fullback in their Round 17 match-up against the Wests Tigers.
The 2021 Dally M Medallist has remained at centre since but following Manly’s 42-4 trouncing at the hands of the Bulldogs in Round 21, Alexander believes the time has come to have Trbojevic back in the number one jersey.
“I’ve heard some say they want to see Tolutau Koula at fullback. I want to see Tom Trbojevic return to fullback,” Alexander said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“I’m making that statement on the back of no knowledge of how he is physically but he’s now played four games in the centres.
“He’s been able to get through those games. He’s fine and if he’s able to take the field for 80 minutes, I don’t see why they don’t just play him at fullback.

“It’s his best position.
“Lehi Hopoate is a great young player but he’s just as effective on the wing.
“Tom needs to be fullback.”
Trbojevic has played eight games at fullback for Manly in 2025 for a 4-4 record. In his four games at centre, Manly are 3-1 which included an upset win over the Melbourne Storm at AAMI Park.
Manly currently sit in ninth position on the NRL ladder and Trbojevic has once again been named in the centres for their must-win match against the Sydney Roosters on Saturday.
