Israel Adesanya has fallen via second-round technical knockout against Frenchman Nassourdine Imavov in Saudi Arabia on Sunday (NZ time).
After an assured first round, 'The Last Stylebender' was caught with a pinpoint overhand right by Imavov, sending him stumbling to the mat, and his opponent swarmed with shots from the back to force the referee to intervene.
It consigns Adesanya to his third consecutive loss inside the Octagon, leaving the former two-time middleweight world champion with one win in his last five fights.
Adesanya began the fight strongly, looking much busier on the feet and landing some heavy body kicks to win the opening round, despite the heaviest shot coming late from Imavov with a modified uppercut.
But in the opening minute of the second, Adesnaya was caught leaning backwards and made to pay in the ultimate fashion, as Imavov found the shot he needed to record the biggest victory of his career.
In the co-main event, Michael 'Venom' Page comfortably outpointed previously undefeated Shara Magomedov.
