After the Blackcaps’ 3-1 T20 series win over the West Indies, coach Rob Walter is already looking ahead to next year’s World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
Walter told Sport Nation Mornings the team has prioritised building a strong new-ball attack and developing players like Jacob Duffy, who has been stepping up with extra work behind the scenes, leading him to become the joint fastest Blackcap to reach 50 T20 international wickets.
“That's what I've loved really about this unit is they're always looking to grow, they're always looking at a few things, they are very coachable,
"They're very hungry to improve and Jake's (Jacob Duffy) probably one of the guys that sets the standard there.”

Walter says final squad selection will be challenging with multiple stars returning from injury, while others are shining in the provided spotlight.
“If you land on your 15 very quickly and you don't have others to choose from, then you're in a pretty bad position…
"There'll be a lot good cricketers that don't go to the World Cup and as hard as that is at the time. It is an indicator of the health of our cricket and that's always a good place to be."
