Kingman stars in Victoria Cup

The $250,000 Group 1 Victoria Cup took place at Melton on Saturday night, and the harness race was nothing short of excellent.

57-time race winner Leap To Fame was the short-priced favourite (with Sportsbet) heading into the race, but the second favourite Kingman reigned supreme - this was the first time in two year’s that Grant Dixon’s champion has been beaten in consecutive races.

Hi Manameisjeff was leading up until the 50m mark, then Luke McCarthy’s Kingman sprinted over the top to claim the Group 1.

This marked McCarthy’s fourth victory in the Victoria Cup, previously winning with Mr Feelgood, For A Reason and Bling It On.
